Sermons on Philippians
Live=Christ; Die=Gain (Part 12)
For the past 15 weeks we have been studying through the book of Philippians in a series entitled "The Christian's Secret to Contentment and Joy". We are now arriving at the conclusion ... and you'll notice today the phrase in vs 11 "I have learned ... in whatever situation I am to be content" is repeated in vs. 12 "I have learned ... the secret" whether I have plenty or I have nothing. So one of the first things we notice is that the contentment we ought to experience ... is something we can learn ... and secondly it is something we need to learn ... b/c we live in a world that not only promotes but depends upon our discontentment.
What keeps us from being content? How we answer that question usually determines the things we pursue in life. Is life a never ending search for contentment? Or is there a secret to contentment that we all have to learn?
In this sermon that Pastor Jeremy preached from Calvary Chapel in Jaco, Costa Rica, we learn Paul's secret to having joy in the midst of any and every circumstance. The secret is tied to a biblical understanding of contentment - 1) What It's Not, 2) What It Is, and 3) How We Get It.
It is important to God that his children live contented lives.
