Sermons on Psalms
Welcome to the year of 2011! You made it. Many people will set yet another New Year Resolution only to fail the same week. Pastor Torrey Montgomery delivers a message stressing the importance of reforming the way you think before reforming the way you live. Thought proceeds action. Listen and be changed!
Because of the Resurrection of Jesus, God invites people to live. Because of the Resurrection of Jesus, God invites people to take on a new identity. Because of the Resurrection of Jesus, everything has been impacted. Have you?
This week we continue with our Fall series titled "Jesus, Forgiveness, and the Seven Deadly Sins." Pastor Morris Dirks reads from Psalm 139:23-24 as he leads his talk "What Lies Beneath."
Pastor Jim continues his series on living a life of excellence.
Part 3: Examine Myself with Fearless Honesty The third step in the series "Coming Up to Breathe" involves doing a little self-exploratory surgery, a little self-examination, with God and a trusted friend or counselor at your side. What are your faults? Do you feel genuine sorrow and regret for your past actions that have caused hurt to others? God, who already knows the truth about you and wants to heal you anyway, knows the importance of you getting out the honest truth about yourself and of leaning into His grace and power for ongoing healing. There will likely be pain and discomfort involved, but allowing God's light to shine inside you allows you opportunity to be all He intended you to be.
Good parents teach their children not to hate. Scriptures back this up. We are told to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Yet in Psalm 139 David forcefully expresses his “complete hatred” for the wicked. Is this something that should have any place in our lives? If so, how?
