DEUTERONOMY 30:19
19
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing
and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live
21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
PROVERBS 18:21
21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
1. LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD
Mark 7: 14-23 (William Barclay)
14
He called the crowd to him again and said, “Listen to me, all of you and understand.
15
There is nothing which goes into a man from outside which can render him unclean; but it is the things which
come out of a man which render the man unclean.”
17
When he came into the house, away from the crowd, his disciples asked him about this hard saying.
18
He said to them, “So, then, are you too unable to grasp things? Do you not understand that everything that
goes into a man from outside cannot render him unclean
19
because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and it is then evacuated from him by natural
bodily processes?” (The effect of this saying is to render all foods clean.)
20
But he went on to say, “What comes out of a man, that is what renders a man unclean.
21
It is from within, from the heart, that there come evil designs, fornications, thefts, murders,
22
adulteries, covetous deeds, evil deeds, guile, wanton wickedness, envy, slander, pride, folly.
23
All these evil things come from within and they render a man unclean.
Away from religion & hypocrisy
Away from apathy, abdication & silence
Enter the ‘inner kingdom’
Luke 17:21
21
"nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."
Matthew 23:26
26
Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
2. TAKE HOLD OF YOUR HEART
II Corinthians 7:1
1
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Be sanctified wholly
Titus 1:15-16 (William Barclay)
15
To the pure all things are pure. But to those who are defiled and who do not believe, nothing is pure,
because their mind and conscience are defiled.
Titus 1:15-16
16
They profess to know God, but they deny their profession by their deeds, because they are repulsive and
disobedient and useless for any good work.
Deliverance
Matthew 6:13
13
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
Cleansing
I John 1:9
9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
Healing
James 5:16
16
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective,
fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
3. GUARD YOUR HEART
Proverbs 4:23 AMP
23
Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs
of life.
Steward your ‘springs/ issues’:
Purity / holiness = vision
Relationship = worship
Authority
Matthew 5:8
8
Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
Mark 11:22-24
22
So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God.
23
For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and
does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he
says.
24
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you
will have them.
4. RISE TO THE CALL
Isaiah 6:1-8
1
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His
robe filled the temple.
2
Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his
feet, and with two he flew.
3
And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His
glory!"
4
And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with
smoke.
5
So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a
people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts."
6
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from
the altar.
7
And he touched my mouth with it, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged."
8
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here
am I! Send me."
