         A.  Desires precede, determine and characterize
                everything we do. 

         B.  It is not wrong to desire. 

         C.  These desires become evil when they
                compete with the Lord for the rule of
                our hearts. (see Romans 1:25) 

         D.  Desires that control us cause relational chaos.

                  1.  Desires cause conflict in our human
                        relationships.   James 4:2

                   2.  Desires cause conflict in our relationship
                        with God.

                             a) It will shape my prayer  life.
                                       James 4:2-3

                              b) It will shape my view of God.
                                      James 4:4

III.   The Supply For Heart Problems
           James 4:5-6

        A.  God gives us His truth. James 4:5a, 6b

        B.  God give us His spirit. James 4:5

        C.  God gives us His grace. James 4:6 

IV.    The Solution For Heart
        Problems Is Humble Submission
              James 4:7-10
