Unleash the Power of Prayer

Sermon Notes

Why Pray?

Philip Yancey in his book Prayer gives these four reasons to pray.

  • Because God wants our attention
  • Because it is a person’s sign of faith
  • Because it stops us in our tracks
  • Because prayer invites God into our daily experience

Prayer doesn’t necessarily change God—but it does change the person who prays

  • “We pray that we may be constructed not that God be instructed.”  Augustine
