James explains that the root problem in our conflicts is worse than we think: it is our own sin, specifically our sinful cravings that make idols out of our desires and then fight for them. Fortunately, the answer is also easier than we think -- the forgiveness and reconciliation that we receive through the cross in humbling ourselves to confess and repent.
