When Your Eye is Single pt 4

When Your Eye is Single  Pt 4

(Part IV: Jesus is the Treasure beyond measure!)

Text: Luke 11:34 KJV:

KJV, v 34 - The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

Supporting Text: Matthew 6:19-24 (Amplified Bible)

19 – Do not gather and heap up and store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal.

20 – But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal:

21 – For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 – The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is sound, your entire body will be full of light.

23 – But if your eye is unsound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the very light in you [your conscience] is darkened, how dense is that darkness!

24 – No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other.

You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in).

  • Jesus urges us not to covet (to have a consuming desire) for the wealth of the world.

A treasure is an abundance of something that is in itself precious and valuable, and will alter our circumstances both now and in the future.

  • Jesus counsels us to the best choice – the riches, glories and pleasures at the Father’s right hand, in Heaven. (Psalms 16:11 KJV – Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.)

What is at the Father’s right hand? Jesus, His Son, the true Treasure!

(Matthew 13:44-46).

  • Where your treasure is, your pursuits, aims, intents, and energy are. This is where your faith is.
  • Your eye will effect your heart and thus your treasure. Keep it sound!
  • We cannot serve two masters, there can only be one. Choose wisely, your treasure will be your master.

Give Me your heart son, And let your eyes delight in My ways. (Prov 23:26 NASB).
