When Your Eye is Single pt 6

When Your Eye is Single

(Part VI:Lampstands-…be aglow and burning with the Spirit…)

Text: Luke 11:34 KJV:

KJV, v 34 - The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

 Luke 11:33-36, Amplified Bible:

33 No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or crypt or under a bushel measure, but on a lampstand, that those who are coming in may see the light.

34 Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye ([a]your conscience) is sound and fulfilling its office, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound and is not fulfilling its office, your body is full of darkness.

35 Be careful, therefore, that the light that is in you is not darkness.

36 If then your entire body is illuminated, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright [with light], as when a lamp with its bright rays gives you light.

Romans 12:11, Amplified: Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.

Luke 3:16, Amplified Bible: John answered them all by saying, I baptize you with water; but He Who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of Whose sandals I am not fit to unfasten. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Acts 1:5 & 8, Amplified Bible:

For John baptized with water, but not many days from now you shall be baptized with ([a]placed in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit.

But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

  • Jesus is the Word of God, the Light of men (mankind). (John 1:1-5)
  • Attend to the Word, be full of the Word. (Prov. 4:20-27; Col. 3:16)
  • Be full of the Spirit of God. (Rom. 12:11; Acts 1:5,8; Eph. 5:16-20)
  • Results: a lampstand for the Lord!

But my horn (emblem of excessive strength and stately grace) You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil. (Psalm 92:10)
