A father in Jewish society determined the identity, status, and inheritance of his children. In American society our identity and status is often determined by our possessions, and the amount of them. The Bible teaches that God provides His followers with an identity, status, and inheritance. God also has a great deal to say about how we should view our possessions, and how our perspective will change how we understand the world around us.
