True Identity

True Identity

Identity Crisis

The only limitations we have are the limitations we place on ourselves.

We are not bound by can't, but we are responsible for do.

The church is having an identity crisis. We seem to align ourselves more with the traditions of men then with Christ

2 Kings 6:1-7 - A prophetic picture of a church with a mistaken identity

The church is the body of Christ and that means it should act as He did while He walked the earth.  As a corporate body, we should see and do the same things He did.

That is why Paul had only one message - JESUS

1 Corinthians 2

We need to get back to our roots from the book of Acts

2 Kings 6:1-7

6 Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, "Behold now, the place before you where we are living is too limited for us. 2 "Please let us go to the Jordan and each of us take from there a beam, and let us make a place there for ourselves where we may live." So he said, "Go." 3 Then one said, "Please be willing to go with your servants." And he answered, "I shall go." 4 So he went with them; and when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. 5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, "Alas, my master! For it was borrowed." 6 Then the man of God said, "Where did it fall?" And when he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there, and made the iron float. 7 He said, "Take it up for yourself." So he put out his hand and took it.

John 1:12-13

John 1:12-13 (NASB)
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even  to those who believe in His name, 13  who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:12-13 (MSG)
12 But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves.  13 These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten,
not sex-begotten.

2 Cor 5:16-20

16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ,he is  a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

God is with us

Jesus is in us - Colossians 1:27

On Earth as it is in heaven

Jesus is at the right hand of God interceding on our behalf - Romans 8:34

Romans 8:28-39

This is what we have at work for us.  We need not have an identity crisis.  We need to remain focused on who we really are.

Galatians 4:1-7

4 Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave although he is owner of everything, 2 but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by the father. 3 So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental things of the world. 4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, " Abba! Father!" 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
