When Your Faith is Tested

Discussion Questions

  • Read 1 Kings 16:30-33.
  • In Elijah's day it wasn't convenient or comfortable to be a believer. It never is. What does it cost you to be a follower of Christ?
  • Pastor Sam said, "In many respects it is harder to live for Christ today, than when the winds are blowing against you, because we tend to accommodate to the culture. We tend to compromise our faiths." Why would God bless spiritual mediocrity?
  • Read Hebrews 11:6. The secret to Elijah's boldness was his unshakable belief in the reality of a living, supernatural, sovereign God. Elijah had a deep conviction that God is alive, in control, and active. Do you believe this? In what areas do you need to ask God to strengthen your faith?
  • Elijah was also convinced that he was God's representative. Who do you represent? Has it ever occurred to you that, if you are in Christ, you have been commissioned by Almighty God to be his personal representative where you work or where you live?
  • Pastor Sam mentioned that prayer can be dangerous (24:01-27:21 in the video). What are you praying for that is dangerous in your life?
