Sacred Calling Part 1: Isaiah 58.1-12
What is sacred? We learned a few weeks ago that the church is sacred. It is God’s holy people. God’s sacred people also have a sacred calling.

Sacred Life: Psalm 139.13-16
On Sunday we will be looking at the sensitive issue of abortion. We will see why Scripture prohibits it, but our nation allows it. As a result nearly 1.5 million abortions occur on average each year in the states. Nearly 115,000 occur daily in the world (over 3,000 in the U.S.). It is a much quieter Holocaust and Vietnam war killing the most innocent of lives. We do not want to throw stones, for there is grace and mercy because of the cross of Jesus Christ, but we do want to share the truth that sets us free.

Sacred Salvation: Romans 10.1-13
We live in a pluralistic society pointing people to many different ways to get to heaven. Scripture speaks of one sacred salvation that is available to all people. It is the only way, the only truth and the only life. Jesus is our salvation and hope of heaven. Today we expose Romans 10.1-13 to see the beautiful salvation that we have in Jesus.

Sacred Obsession: Galatians 6.11-18
As Paul closes his letter to the churches at Galatia we see his obsession. His obsession is the cross of Jesus. This is the thing he loves, reviles in, boasts in, rejoices in, and lives for. It is what he preached - its message, triumph, offense and wonder. It meant the world to him. It was truly his obsession. He considered everything else loss compared to it. What is your obsession?

Sacred Community: Galatians 6.1-10
We continue to pose this question as we gather this week: What is sacred? What is sacred to you? When you think of your time, your priorities and the different spheres of your life what is sacred? We will talk this week about God's sacred community, the church.

Meno (abide): John 15.1-11
As this year ends and next week a new one begins there is a word that is so crucial to this journey that we must all know and embrace. This week we will look at this word and be encouraged to continue to give presence.

Cosmic View of Christmas
The night of Jesus' birth was not completely a silent night. As we see the cosmic view of Christmas we see a battle in the heavens. The Red Dragon (Satan) and his cohorts try to devour the Son of God. Their attempt is empty and Christ is victorious in His advent. Through this view we see that Christmas Day, Good Friday, Easter, the Ascension and Christ's second advent is really one glorious event.

Give Presence: Luke 11.27-28 (Peace)
I love the song "I heard the bells", especially the end when it says, "there is no peace on earth, hate is strong that mocks the song, peace on earth good will to men – then peel the bells more loud and deep, God is not dead nor does He sleep, the wrong shall fail the right prevail with peace on earth, good will to men." I long for peace. Peace in my relationshps, peace with all that is wrong, peace in the midst of suffering, peace to all our differences and above all peace with God. May you receive the peace of God and give the presence of peace this advent season.
