The inclusion of Herod in this passage is confusing, but actually fits a theme found throughout Scripture of mistaken identity. In this case, the passage reminds us that it is truly God who is at work through God's people, and that we are called to imitate Christ.

This is our last sermon on the book of Luke this year, and we continue to learn from the largely negative example of the disciples and how they interact with the crowd! And yet, we remember that the disciples will not always be this way, but through a long journey, will become the leaders of the early church.
