Zaccheus: Life's Little Loser
0 Amens
This week, we continue our series entitled Little People: Big God. The goal of this series is to encourage God's children to explore the call of God on their lives by clarifying the biblical reality that God's ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. God does not see the world the way that we do. He is not limited by the things that we believe limit us. He is never frustrated by the challenges that bring us so much frustration.
The central thought of this series is that God does not call us because of what we have to offer Him, rather; He calls us because of what He has to offer us.
This week, we look at Zacchaeus. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone sins. Sometimes those sins can seperate us from others and leave us feeling alone and useless. Zacchaeus was a guy who betrayed everything he was and everyone he knew. He was looked down on by everyone in his community because of who was and what he had done. But Zacchaeus didn't want to stay that way. So when Jesus came, he did whatever he could do in the hope of finding some help. Jesus refused to see him the way that everyone else saw him. Jesus say him with compassion, love and grace. To Jesus, it doesn't matter who you are or what you've done. If you are willing to repent and put your trust in Jesus, He is willing to Adore you as you are, to Alter what you do, and to Accept you as His own.
What Zacchaeus was:
One. He was Scorned - Tax Collector (19:2)
Two. He was Sinful - Wealthy (19:2)
Three. He was Short (19:3)
What Jesus did:
One. Jesus Sensed Zaccaeus' Needs (19:5)
Two. Jesus Sought Zacchaeus out (19:5)
Three. Jesus Saved Zacchaeus -(19:9)
