Happiness: So Easy A Caveman Can Do It (Part 2)

HAPPINESS: So easy a caveman can do it   Part 2 of 8

Blessed (happy) are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.  Matthew 5:4

EXPERIENCING GOD’S COMFORT

1. Realize that God is with me.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."  Psalm 34:18

                Things I Need to Remember

                * God is

“For those who love what you reveal, everything fits—no stumbling around in the dark for them.   I wait expectantly for your salvation; God, I do what you tell me.   My soul guards and keeps all your instructions— oh, how much I love them!  I follow your directions, abide by your counselmy life's an open book before you.   Let my cry come right into your presence, God; provide me with the insight that comes only from your Word." Psalm 119:165-169 (The Message)

                * God

"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who                 trust in Him . . . Nahum 1:7 (NIV)

                * God

"We have a great high priest, who has gone into heaven, and he is Jesus the Son of God. That is why we must hold on to what we have said about him.  Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin!  So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help." Hebrews 4:14-16 (CEV)

2. Release the hurt.

How?

I must stop focusing on                      and start focusing on ___________.

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.  Isaiah 43:18 (NIV)

3. Rely on God’s resources.

                Three Comforters:

                * God's

"I lie in the dust; revive me by your word." Ps. 119:25 (NLT)

               * God's

"... The God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)

                * God's

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13 (NIV)
