Purity

 

Titus 2:11-14

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”

 Purity and holiness are not our right nor our privilege but our responsibility.  1 peter 1:15-16 says we must be holy because He is holy. (1Pet 2:9) We are called to be a chosen generation a royal priesthood a holy nation.  We have a real enemy. The devil wants to destroy us. He understands the threat of young people walking in purity and holiness. He knows that when we do there is nothing we can’t achieve. We are unstoppable, untouchable, unbreakable and unconquerable.  Whenever he looks at a person who lives in purity he is blinded by the light. He squints as hard as he can but as he does he can only make out an image. But not your image the image of the very son of God. That scares the life out of him. He is terrified by you threatened by you. He knows the damage you can do, even if you don’t recognise it. When he looks and sees a young person and he sees Jesus more than he says the personality, giftedness or charisma he runs for his medication... ……………………………….………………………………………… Judges 16:4-22.Afterward it happened that he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. 5And the lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, “Entice him, and find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and every one of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver.”6So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me where your great strength lies, and with what you may be bound to afflict you.”7And Samson said to her, “If they bind me with seven fresh bowstrings, not yet dried, then I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”8So the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven fresh bowstrings, not yet dried, and she bound him with them. 9Now men were lying in wait, staying with her in the room. And she said to him, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” But he broke the bowstrings as a strand of yarn breaks when it touches fire. So the secret of his strength was not known.10Then Delilah said to Samson, “Look, you have mocked me and told me lies. Now, please tell me what you may be bound with.”11So he said to her, “If they bind me securely with new ropes that have never been used, then I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”12Therefore Delilah took new ropes and bound him with them, and said to him, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And men were lying in wait, staying in the room. But he broke them off his arms like a thread.13Delilah said to Samson, “Until now you have mocked me and told me lies. Tell me what you may be bound with.”And he said to her, “If you weave the seven locks of my head into the web of the loom”—14So she wove it tightly with the batten of the loom, and said to him, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” But he awoke from his sleep, and pulled out the batten and the web from the loom.15Then she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and have not told me where your great strength lies.” 16And it came to pass, when she pestered him daily with her words and pressed him, so that his soul was vexed to death, 17that he told her all his heart, and said to her, “No razor has ever come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I am shaven, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”18When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, “Come up once more, for he has told me all his heart.” So the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in their hand. 19Then she lulled him to sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then she began to torment him, and his strength left him. 20And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” So he awoke from his sleep, and said, “I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.21Then the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he became a grinder in the prison. 22However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it had been shaven. Samson was a guy who had great strength, but very weak when it came to the pressure of staying right in the sight of God. We can see a clear example through his mistakes the consequences that follow when also we become servants to the lusts of the flesh.When Samson followed his thirst for lust it cost him both his: 1.        His sight.2.        His freedom. These same 2 things the devil wants to take from you. His intention is to rob of you of your strength if he can remove 1st your strength than, he can enslave you completely. ….……………….………………………………………………………… 1. His Sight. 

Vs 21

“Than the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza”. John 8:12 “Then Jesus spoke…saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Satan wants to steal the eyes of a generation and he knows when you choose impurity you are powerless against him. Lust is among his most powerful weapons He wants to rob you of your dreams and your future, to take the very thing that leads us into our God given destiny. Our VISION. This is the 1stthing the devil took from Samson. The book of proverbs says without a vision people perish.              Without vision; a) You have no clear view of the present. You start to doubt your identity, who you are. You are overcome by shame and guilt. The devil says “He/She can’t properly see anymore so let’s distort how they view themselves. He vomits curses and condemnation, hatred, depression and deceit all over you. He wants you to feel disorientated so that you don’t know who you are or where you are. You did know, but now you are spiritually blind. The devil has put your eyes out. The best way I can illustrate this is this was: Have you ever waken up in the middle of the night in a strange place? Usually the same place you went to sleep in. But there is something powerful about not being able to see. The sense of disorientation is incredible. As soon as you flick a light on immediately it all becomes clear but you can spend ages just looking for a light.  It becomes the most important thing in your life at that moment. We can no longer see the authority God has given us. We loose sight of our place of authority and instead of being strong powerful children of the king (like Samson) telling the devil to BACK OFF, we become babies sucking our thumb. The moment you choose impurity and lust over living in the ways of God the devil begins to sharpen his razor and lather up your head with shaving cream.  He knows your vision is going to peel away like a blade cutting away hair! Than as soon as he has finished gently and softly slicing away your God given insight, he begins mercilessly stabbing out your eyes!!! b) You have no clear view of your future. The moment you concede to temptation you immediately loose all sight of the future God has for you. Samson had no idea what would become of him and the same is true of the fallen Christian. Previously God had put a dream and a purpose in your heart. “A future and a hope.” (Jer 29:11) A vision so bright that whenever you thought about it almost gave you goose bumps. It seemed that whenever you tried to explain it to someone it never quite came out right. People just couldn’t understand what you were trying say. The seed of the promise was buried deep down inside you and only you knew of its preciousness. In a moment it was stolen from and all you were left with was nothingness and blinded ness. Left with barren eyeholes that have no power to see the now let alone the future. The enemy simply tempted you to choose impurity just for a moment, just a little taste than he dashed away your future and hope. He dangled it in front of your face to remind you of what was and now is not. You were meant to preach, sing, lead, impact, save souls, heal the sick, speak the very prophetic words of God, raise a godly family, lecture at bible colleges, produce a worship cd; whatever it was, it was your sole purpose for existence and now you can’t see past yesterday.  Trapped in a cage that you have created for yourself by falling victim to blindness and you no longer have any reason to live. The enemy realised that Samson’s hair would grow back before too long but the enemy had a plan to keep him a slave forever and that was to thieve his sight. It’s a devastating thing for a teenager to have all their greatest days so young. I have heard far too many adults speak so fondly of the time when they were young and they used to be something for God. You look at them as they speak nostalgically about the times of revival they lived through and how God used them. Their eyes seem to glaze over as they go back to the ‘GLORY DAYS’  But now… NOTHING! It’s enough to make you ill.  You want to shake them and scream right into their ear; you’re still breathing, and people are still going to HELL, what's wrong with you?  But they have no vision. I guarantee you 90% of the time somewhere, somehow they didn’t protect their purity, and being used mightily of God is now distant memories and not prophesies. Is it the same with you? You stuffed up BIG TIME! But when you have put things right and repented of your sin and regained through grace you’re standing with God you think all is good. But you begin to notice something… 
  • You can’t see like you once could.
 
  • The future is not what it once was…
 And sad to say that many powerful ministries have walked down this very path. God can restore and cleanse you from all sin but many people don’t let themselves grow beyond their failing. Once amazing men and women of God but they fell. Than they gained forgiveness but NEVER regained the vision they once had. I cant tell you why that’s God’s business, He’s in management I'm only in sales. Protect your future by protecting your purity. The bible tells us that in 1 Cor 6:13 “...Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.18Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” So called Christians defiling the very temple they asked God to come and reside in. Youth night they’re happy to dance, sing and amen than every other night they sell their bodies like cheap hookers to simple, fleeting pleasures. Moments of worthless gratification. God no longer dwells there but your body is like a corpse with a hollow inside eaten out by the disease of impurity.…..……………………………………………………………………… 2. His freedom. 

Vs 21

“Binding him with bronzed shackles…” The 2nd thing that the Philistines stole from Samson was his freedom and liberty.  Satan wants to steal the freedom that Jesus died to give you. The only way you can loose your God given liberty is if you forfeit it.  Jesus said “He who the Son makes free, is free indeed”. John 8:36 It was impossible for Samson to be bound accept that he surrender the secret of his strength.  It’s the same for you; your spiritual authority is far beyond what you can ever comprehend. As in Samson’s case no one can just take away your authority. It’s your inheritance as a believer.  Paul said in: 2 Cor 10:4-5 “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” The devil can not take that away!!! It belongs to you. Like Samson 10,000 Philistine foot soldiers were no match for him. They couldn’t take him captive, they didn’t stand a chance so they conspired against him and undermined the secret of his strength. In order for someone to come and take your spiritual power and authority, you have to give in to the pressure to just ‘be normal’ to do what everyone else is doing. God created you and paid for your freedom. His will was never for you to be bound by impurity. There is no bondage like besetting sin. If you’ve ever fallen into the trap you know exactly what I’m talking about. You feel like it would be easier to escape from a barred cage that for you to break free from the bronze shackles you’re bound in. And for some reason people who have ALL authority over all principalities and powers seem to get led away by the smallest opposition. Some of you were mighty in God and would give the devil a migraine headache every morning you woke up. He used to set his alarm every morning according to when you awoke because he knew you alone had the power to tear down his very kingdom. He wouldn’t even entrust you with his greatest General but made sure you were his assignment. The power of purity is something that scares the devil like no other. He could see you grasped the concept of freedom in Christ. The fact that he couldn’t touch you, he couldn’t speak to you, he couldn’t infect you, he couldn’t influence you with any other enticement, he couldn’t even get with 10 metres of you without you lashing out with that terrifying and dreadful name. That wonderful name. That omnipotent name. THE NAME OF JESUS! And now look at you…A pair of ankle jewellery has reduced you to a sniffling, pitiful, sorry causality. The world lay at your feet and now it rests snugly on your shoulders. Bronze shackles which in Hebrew resemble filthiness. The enemy vomits curses and condemnation, hatred, depression and deceit all over you. He wants you to feel condemnation like you never felt before. He has you bound and he wants vengeance for all you had done to his kingdom and the many nights he lay sleepless crying into his pillow wishing you never existed. But now he has you and he will do with you as he pleases. Even the greatest demons once were scared of you now the smallest and most insignificant take turns at spewing forth day and night those horrible words of unforgiveness and unworthiness. They see you as intimidating as a small child because they saw you cash in your most precious attribute, your holiness and purity. We must understand that purity is among the believers greatest weapons against the enemy. Purity = Power If you could get a contrast view of who you were before you sold your purity for a moments pleasure and who yo have now become you mind might just about break. The before and after shot would be absolutely devastating!!!   The enemy doesn’t attempt to kill you, just get you to bargain your spiritual authority and than bind you securely in shackles.…………………………………………………………………………Where did it all go wrong? DelilahFor many of you, you are a pure hearted person and you’ve always been that but now you got Delilah living in your house and you expect to stay clean.  You just assumed that you were safe. You’re not that kind of person and you think like that. Well why is Delilah sleeping in your bed. You’re a fool for thinking that. Paul said it so clearly in Corinthians; “What fellowship has light with darkness or Jesus and Satan.” You’ll never be free when you’re stuck dancing with darkness.  I’m going to speak to mostly the ladies for a moment because they really understand what I'm talking about.  “You won’t change them so dump them…” I have seen too many girls sidelined by pathetic, hormone brained little boys who have nothing better to do than load all their insecurities on some young, once powerful woman of God.  Let me spell it out plain and simple for all of you because I can see you’re getting stuck; if you have Delilah in your life than you can wave a pretty little goodbye to your sight, freedom, and you destiny. He came to you with baggage and hormonal hang ups and he’ll still have it when your gone. You’re just another tick on his scorecard. He’ll tell you that he wants to change, he’ll come to every altar call and ever start to talk spiritual but you’re a fool because he has been playing you like a violin and he’ll bring you down to hell with him. Is Delilah evil??? No not really; she isn’t the devil, she isn’t wickedness personified and the bible doesn’t give us any real insight as to why she deceived Samson but you have your salvation at stake and must never entertain that kind of company. NEVER! I know this isn’t going for some of you. I can see that some of you are thinking that this doesn’t apply to you. You’re assuming that your situation is different and your boyfriend or girlfriend is trying real hard. It’s just something you both have to get over together… Dream on you weak, corrupted, impotent little child. Dream on! You look like a drug addict with a needle sticking out of your arm and everyone else can see that you’re addicted but your still convinced your in control. Still delusional enough to think you can control but your blind and bound marching in circles around grinding grain. Never making any progress, never taking a step forward and never having the sight and freedom Christ died to give you. Get rid of her… kick her out! It doesn’t matter how painful it might be it’s your eternal destination at stake.Samson should never have entertained the presence of this weak woman. You might look at him and say; “He’s just real stupid. He should have known by the 1st 3 times that she was obviously going to try and trick him so he was just dumb enough to walk into the trap. Not me!” You fool! Just about every time you see your girlfriend/boyfriend you fall into the same trap if Samson was a fool than you so much more. He only made one mistake yet you haven’t stopped in fact you don’t realise it but you can’t stop! DELILAH MUST GO!No excuses, no allowances, no compromise! For those of you who insist on ignoring my pleas; might I be bold enough to ask you this simple question? If you are not married yet and you persist in offering members of your body that are supposedly ‘joined to Christ’ to harlots or people who offer their bodies in sexual debauchery. And yet you insist that you are called of God to marry such a person (Maybe you are such a person) how is it that you are happy to enter sacred marriage vows trusting that person will remain faithful with you, and only you, when they have an absolute disregard for you pre marriage wedded-ness to Christ. If they have no problems cheating on Christ Himself why are you foolish enough to assume they aren’t going to cheat on you??? You’re an addictTed Bundy was a notorious serial killer and sex offender. He had confessed to 30 murders with many other still in speculation. He was sentenced to die by electric chair in 1989. Just hours before he was to be executed he asked to see one of the world most respected Christian leaders and best selling author and psychiatrist Dr James Dobson. In an interview that was conducted with Ted Bundy just hours before he died the rapist and murderer was quite relaxed and calm. He confessed he was ready and willing to die. He professed a sincere relationship with Jesus as his Lord and saviour. (I make no comment regarding his judgment for the sake of the families that have been affected by his killing rampage)  He speaks to James Dobson and makes a chilling confession. He says that the thing that plagued him and inspired many of his violent sexual outrages was an addiction to pornography. He went on to say. “I am no psychiatrist but most, if not all of the men here (Death row) have an addiction to pornography.” You have to understand something. I'm not just talking to the guys here but to everyone. Sexual impurity is not just removing all your vision and freedom in Christ though it certainly will. It is slowly eating away at your conscience. I plead with you; do whatever you need to do. Go home and burn your DVD collection, cut your internet connection, burn your magazines, disassociate with those kinds of people. It’s a poison that will cheat you of your salvation and no moment of pleasure can ever be worth an eternity in hell.
