Interest in Others

Here are two examples of people who live with single vision.

“I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare.”  Timothy does this not for what he might get out of the deal, but because of his concern for Christ.

Do your own interests consume you to where you don’t look towards the interests of the Good News and Jesus?  Do you look towards the interests of others?  Will you care about their spiritual progress enough to invest in them?

We don’t keep track, it’s not about “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”.  It’s about loving God and loving others.

Then there’s Ephaphman.  He has been sent from a church community.  He was sent to aid the mission of Christ – he had brought a financial gift.  As Threads lives out the Good News – will we see people here who respond like Epaphman?  People who are willing to leave their jobs, homes, friends to serve God within His kingdom.  Would we give risk/give up our “life”?  Will we do it with the spirit of “He is a true brother, co-worker, and fellow soldier.”

Are we helping one another consider the call of God’s kingdom in our lives?  Would you have those conversations with one another?

How would we honor those who do?  “give him the honor that people like him deserve.”  Epaphroditus was God’s answer to Paul’s prayer.  What would it look like to pray God-sized dreams, where we would need Epaphman’s?
