Paul begins his letter highlighting the two relationships that are essential to joy.  First he acknowledges his partnership with God.  It’s God’s thing.  He began a good work and will complete it in the life of each of us.  We are partnered with Him so that God can receive glory and praise.

 Paul also talks about the importance of partners in advancing the Gospel.  Following Jesus is a team sport.  But do we pray for partners in the Gospel?  Paul’s prayer is for partners.  His prayer is for his partner’s spiritual growth – their development of character and maturity.
