Our business, as followers of Jesus, is not only to know what is true, but to obey it. To do that, we need to submit our wills to God. It is hard work, and often we want to skip it and get on to the more glamorous stuff.

But the key word in disciple is "discipline." Learning to be obedient is sometimes a slow and arduous process. Paul compares it to training for top-level athletic competition. Every day is a new spiritual workout, preparing us for the race set before us.

You won’t practice obedience, if you don’t practice God’s presence.
