When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language...we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!" Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?" Acts 2:1-8, 11b-13

God is up to something. . . discouraged folks cheer up, dishonest folks fess up, sour folks sweeten up, closed folks open up, gossipers shut up, conflicted folks make up, sleeping folks wake up, lukewarm folks fire up, dry bones shake up, and pew potatoes stand up! Point 1:

The Christian Life is not about keeping rules but knowing Christ.

"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection." Philippians 3:10

Point 2:

The Christian Life, it's not just about salvation but transformation too.

Point 3:

You overcome apathy with zeal.

The power of Acts 2 Let's get acquainted with the Holy Spirit.

"And now you Gentiles have also heard that truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago." Ephesians 1:13

"And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment." John 16:8

"If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counsellor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." John 14:16-17

Romans 8:26 tells me "... the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express."

"... I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." 1 Corinthians 2:2
