I.      The word of God as a sword

A.   The first question you ask yourself is, “If the word of God is a sword, does this mean that the Bible is a weapon?”

1.     When we misunderstand what it means for the word of God to be a sword, we can end up using God’s word as a weapon against people

B.   So, if the Word of God is a sword, a weapon, against whom are we to use it?

1.     It’s not a weapon to be used against people

a)     it’s a weapon to be used against the “spiritual forces of evil” that keep us from being who God created us to be

II.      So, how does that work?

A.   The word of God gives us clarity about ourselves

B.   The word of God also equips us to live the Christian life
