Fighting Fear

0 Amens

Fear

Uncertainty in the face of danger

            Inability to preserve our dreams

Fear is a withdrawal from threat, anger is the attacking of threat.

90% of all fears never happen

90% of the fears that happen are caused by fear

Fear of failure often leads to failure

Fear can paralyze us

Fear can distort our perception of ourselves

It makes us feel more vulnerable than we really are

Fear can become obsessive

Algophobia — garlic

Anablephobia — looking up

Anglophobia — England, English Culture, or English People

Apotemnophobia — persons with amputations

Arachibutyrophobia — peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth

Asymmetriphobia — asymmetrical things

Aulophobia — flutes

Coprastasophobia — constipation

Geniophobia — chins

Macrophobia — long waits

Octophobia — the figure 8

Optophobia — opening one's eyes

Pogonophobia — beards

Zemmiphobia — the great mole rat

Fear traps us into seeking comfort

What do you do with your fear

Acknowledge

Proverbs 29:25 Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but to trust the LORD means safety.

1 John 4:18 Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of judgment, and this shows that his love has not been perfected in us.

Romans 8:15 So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God's very own children, adopted into his family– calling him "Father, dear Father."

Ways to conquer fear

Trust God (hah, no one does that)

Experience it enough to become numb to it and take away its power

“You must do the thing that you fear until the fear of that thing becomes no more.”

- Brian Tracy
