Vision 2007

●    Anniversary:  Looking back and Forward, remembering and dreaming

What do You See?

●    Close your eyes: OK picture your favorite place on the planet.  Where are you going this summer.
So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.  2 Corinthians 4:18

●    Look beyond the physical to the spiritual, beyond the present to the future, beyond the visible to the invisible,  we must look past the temporary – what is perishing to the forever
What Does It look Like?  The Church  -  Us
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  Matthew 16:18
●    The church in the New Testament is described as a irresistible, prevailing presence of Christ distributed in and through His followers.

Vision  A clear mental picture of what could be, fueled by the conviction that it should be.  Visioneering

WHBC Vision

To be a irresistible force attracting and engaging those far from God, by establishing multiple functioning congregations of authentic life changing biblical community.

Vision & Purpose  Vision Translate in Purpose – Pursuing purpose is what brings the vision to reality.

Reaching: Extending ourselves and the Good News of Jesus Christ to spiritually uninvolved people. Mt. 28:19-20, Luke 19:10, 2 Cor. 5;20, 1 Cor. 9:19-22,  1 Cor. 10:33

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT)

For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. Luke 19:10
We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.                   2 Corinthians 5:20

Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ. 20 When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law. Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to Christ those who are under the law. 21 When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law,I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ. But I do not ignore the law of God; I obey the law of Christ. When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.    1 Corinthians 9:19-22

I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved.                                 1 Corinthians 10:33

Connecting:

Sharing in authentic friendships and fellowship in small groups. Eph.2:19, Pro. 27:17, Acts 2:46, Gal 6:2, Eccl. 4:10

●    Faith building exercise.
●    The Wall  (Partnership)

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,  Ephesians 2:19

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 27:17

They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity  Acts 2:46

Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.  Galatians 6:2

If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.  Eccl. 4:10

Growing:

Experiencing spiritual transformation into Christ likeness Rom. 12:2, Eph. 4:23,24, 2 Peter 3:18, Eph 4;15,16, Col. 1:10

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2

A life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.  Ephesians 4:23-24 MSG

Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter  3:18
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.  Ephesians 4:15

Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. Colossians 1:10

Serving:

Meeting the needs of others. Col.4:5-6, Mt 22:39,  Mt. 20:26-28, Gal 5:13

Rarely if ever can we meet the need of others without it affecting our ability to meet our own desires, wants and needs

Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. Colossians 4:5-6

A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.  Matthew 22:39

But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Matthew 20:26-28
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.  Galatians 5;13

Worship:

The practical expression of displacing oureslves and acknowledging God at the center of it all. Mt. 22:37, Mt. 4:10, John 4:23,24,

`You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. Matthew 22:37-39

You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.  Matthew 4:10
But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth  John 4:23-24

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.  Romans 12:1
