A Little Advice

The Silver Standard of Christianity

This church had settled for a substandard form of Christianity that was robbing this church of its ability to accomplish God's Purpose. In 1 Corinthians 5-6, Paul calls them back to the "gold standard," living the Christian life the way that God had intended.

Freshman Orientation

As Paul continues to explain to these new Christians what the normal Christian life really looks like, he prepares to get into some pretty heavy topics. Before Paul launches into it though, he pauses and emphasizes some habits these Corinthians need to have developed if they are going to be successful in living the Christian life.

No Armchair Quarterbacks

In the first two chapters of 1 Corinthians, Paul drew a great big circle around the church, calling on them to be united, laying out for them the power that was available to each Christian. Using the familiar illustration of a sports team, see how Paul now deals with each individual on the team and calls for 100% involvement if the team (the church) is going to accomplish its purpose of glorifying God.
