Can we be good without Jesus?
The question, can we be good without Jesus, draws a variety of responses. This is because it can be taken in more than one way. Reactions to it range all the way from emphatic "No way!" to "Of course you can! Why would you say otherwise?" The way we answer this question depends upon what we think about Jesus, about goodness, and about ourselves. Key Passage: Romans 3:19-26

No shortcuts
The temptation narratives are really about trust and obedience. Satan tempted Jesus to doubt God, to test God, and to forsake God; he tempted Jesus to fulfill God's mission by a means other than obedience, suffering, and servanthood. Do we not face the same temptations today? Like Jesus in the desert, temptations are allowed into our lives in order to examine the faithfulness and obedience of our heart. Key Passage: Luke 4:1-13

Jesus among other gods
Truth is relative, right? I mean if it is good for you then that should be good for me and we shouldn’t disagree over the 'small stuff'; you know trivial things like Truth or religion. Really? Key Passage: Philippians 2:6-11

Named
What's in a name? Significance? Love? Recapturing a memory? Maybe it's your grandpa's heritage or your mom's favorite aunt. Could be a biblical hero or a forgotten saint? Perhaps it's from a land far away or a character that's close to home. It could even be Hope, Faith, or Grace. Last year, in BC, there were 283 baby boys given the name Ethan. Interestingly enough, of the roughly 22,000 boys born last year not even one was named "Friend of Sinners." Key Passage: John 7:37-38

Rescued
When was the last time you blessed someone who didn't deserve it? Luke says that Jesus came to seek and save those who didn't deserve anything. He didn't just run into a cranky waitress - He sat down at her table on purpose! The big idea for this message is this: Completely undeserved grace contained in absolute love continued in unwavering commitment demands a courageous response. Key Passage: Luke 19:10

Doing life together
Prayer is an ongoing relationship with God in which we share life together. When one looks at the life and teaching of Jesus in the area of prayer it becomes quite evident that prayer is about relationship and keeping conversation with God; a two-way dialogue of speaking and listening. Throughout the Scriptures we see Jesus living this truth - we see Him giving requests to His Father about life and ministry and we see Him listening to what His Father has for Him. Key Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Jesus, you're fired?
I think we would all agree with the following statement: 'The one true Good Shepherd is Jesus', but did Jesus shepherd/pastor like our modern day pastors? What would it really be like if Jesus was our church pastor today? Jesus did things, went places, connected with fringe people, taught things like no one else. How would we respond if Jesus did those things today as our pastor? Would we as a church embrace the unexpected challenge of a whole new life or would we fire Jesus as our pastor? Honestly just how would you and I deal with Pastor Jesus? Key Passage: Luke 15:1-7

Shirking religion in favour of Jesus
This ‘Re:Jesus' series is an examination in the midst of a multitudes of options why the person of Jesus is the unparalleled transcendent of any one religion and a light for all. Religion uses rules to force our steps, guilt to keep us in line, and rituals to remind us of our failure to live up to those rules. In doing this, religion adds more weight to those who are already burdened with life's hardships. But Jesus offers us the rest we are searching for. Key Passage: Galatians 1:1-10

Playground or Battlefield?
What is the point of life? What is the purpose? Jesus said, I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. This is not our home,we are aliens and strangers! Is church about singing and listening to a boring dude talk about his childhood? What if we truly loved in action and in truth? Key Passage: Ephesians 2:10

Praise the Lord!
Bible students call the last five psalms the 'Hallelujah Psalms'. This is because they all start and end with the Hebrew word "Hallelujah". Here, at the end of the book of Psalms, God agrees to love and give help to His people. And His people agree to love and obey Him. Nothing is more reasonable or more logical than worship. If God doesn't exist then worship is insanity. You're worshipping someone that isn't real. But if God exists then nothing is more logical or reasonable than worship. If God exists, then anything less than all-out worship is totally illogical. Key Passage: Psalm 146-150
