Blessed are the poor in spirit...
1 Amens
There have been many “revolutions” that brought lasting societal change; some for the good, some for the bad. Be it the industrial revolution, the sexual revolution, or the technological revolution, there have been massive changes in our society and will continue to be. The question for the follower of Jesus is this: What lasting societal changes would be indicators that the “people of God” had been present in some particular society? Long after we are gone, will we have left a legacy that is worth writing in the history books?
There is no question that Jesus Christ came to change the world, but His chosen methodology was up-side-down by all human standards. Instead of a violent or political agenda, He came to serve, and ultimately to lay down His life. But in that self-sacrifi ce He captured the central role in human history. Never before, and never sense has there been a leader with such infl uence and world-wide impact.
So, if we want to follow His steps…if we want to see our world changed…we need to understand His methods and His mindset. Our summer series is going to be spent in an outdoor, hillside classroom, listening in as Jesus teaches His followers what a revolutionary looks like in the peaceful kingdom of God!
Changing the world is possible…but the “how” may surprise you!
