Pointing to Jesus

1 Amens

Amen

Reading through the Bible we are continually confronted with the supernatural. Beginning with the miracle of creation and culminating with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our rational world view is constantly interrupted. We have come to call these displays "signs and wonders." Moses and Pharoah, Elijah and Ahaz, Jesus and the demon-possessed: the list of "power encounters" could go on and on.

If we read these encounters in their context and with the entire Bible as a backdrop, it becomes obvious that these signs are ALWAYS intended to point us back to God. The "signs" themselves are never an "end" but rather a "means to an end" that we might turn our attention and devotion to the Lord of the universe. Even today, God is interrupting the human experience to point us to Jesus. The only question is whether we have eyes to see.
